As you may have surmised, I’m a major fan of delicious lunch time dining destinations that are easily accessible via walking and/or the campus shuttle. Thus, I’m pleased to report that UCLA Dining Services has launched a pilot program that charges ridiculously low but delicious! prices to UCLA staff (we’re talking $3 for breakfast/$4 for lunch and/or dinner) to dine in what was described in one publication as “underutilized” dining facilities up on The Hill.

The dining halls can be such a great treat, especially since the food is delicious, nutritious,  as well as sustainably and responsibly sourced.

Earlier this week, our senior transportation planner, Matthew H, gave the food at Hedrick a thumbs up; he dined there on Tuesday.

Yours truly will be checking it out with Nurit, our campus sustainability coordinator, tomorrow and we’ll be inviting along friends. Of course, we invite you to join us. Just email me offline at stritipeskul at ts.ucla.edu.

DINING:  Spring Quarter, 2010. This Spring Quarter 2010, all UCLA Administration staff members will be able to enjoy discounted meal rates for breakfast, lunch, and dinner at select UCLA Dining Services locations.  This pilot program will offer staff an opportunity to dine at locations that are currently open but underutilized by student residents.  (See flyer)

Breakfast Combo (M-F) – $3

Rendezvous
Located in Rieber Terrace Residence Hall
Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner Combos (M-F) – $3

Hedrick Residential Restaurant
Located in Hedrick Residence Hall
Lunch & Dinner (M-F) – $4.00
Continental Breakfast, Brunch & Dinner (Sat & Sun) – $4

Program Details:
• Discounted meals valid only during regularly scheduled work shifts, including weekends, if applicable.
• Only one swipe per staff member, per meal period.
• Meals must be paid for through BruinCard EasyPay swipes – no cash accepted.
• Standard meal pricing for “UCLA staff” applies at all other UCLA Dining Services facilities not part of the pilot program.
• This pilot program will be evaluated at the end of Spring Quarter for future continuation.
