GOOD just released a mesmerizing interactive infographic that explains how hybrid cars function. Even a hybrid can’t measure up to public transportation, ride sharing, biking or walking, but they do offer much greater benefits than a standard vehicle.
According to the infographic, regular vehicles produce more than 4,000 additional pounds of CO2 annually when compared to HEVs (hybrid electric vehicles). HEVs also are twice as efficient when it comes to fuel economy, which saves both money and time between fill ups.
To really cut those CO2 emissions though, consider combining your hybrid car with ride sharing! Each additional passenger can drastically decrease your carbon footprint, especially for longer distances. Check out this analysis from Planet Green that concludes that a hybrid holding 4 people can actually beat bus rides in terms of carbon emissions/person.
