UCLA Transportation recently received a Metro Rideshare Diamond Award Honorable Mention for ‘outstanding achievement in ridesharing.’ Our commuter program was one of 24 commuter programs coordinated by employers in Los Angeles, Ventura and Orange counties that were singled out for recognition.

This is not the first time UCLA Transportation has received a Diamond Award. Several of our programs andprojects have been previously recognized including our Bike-U-mentary.

This year, our nomination, “Bikes Belong: Making UCLA a More Bike-Friendly Campus,” highlighted actions we’ve taken or programs we’ve contributed funds to in recent years to be considered a Bicycle Friendly University. Actions taken include UCLA’s Bike Library, self-service Bike Repair Stations, continued bike parking, infrastructure and educational improvements on campus, departmental bikes to reduce midday car trips, and last year’s innovative Bike (Re)cycling Day.

Look for improved incentives, starting this July, for UCLA staff and faculty bike commuters who belong to the Bruin Commuter Club (BCC) and register their bike with the National Bike Registry. BCC bike commuters will be eligible to receive up to $50 in annual benefits through a choice of incentive options. Benefits may be applied to UCLA’s Community Bike Center, Helen’s Cycles, a UCLA Commuter Passport, which allows access to UCLA Recreation shower and locker facilities, or an annual membership to the Los Angeles County Bicycle Coalition.
