etaward_nov2016Sunday night's basketball game against Long Beach State at Pauley Pavilion was dedicated to UCLA Transportation and its efforts in promoting sustainable transportation.

Along with a Bruin victory, Energy Upgrade California—a state initiative aimed at saving energy and conserving natural resources—presented Renee Fortier, executive director of UCLA Event & Transportation; Penny Menton, director of communications, organizational development & commuter services; and Dave Karwaski, senior associate director of planning, policy & traffic systems, with the Energy Champion award.

The award recognizes UCLA Transportation's "leadership in making UCLA and California a model of clean energy and sustainability" by providing sustainable transportation options designed to encourage the entire UCLA community to carpool, bike, walk, vanpool and use public transit. UCLA Transportation has dramatically reduced traffic generated by single occupancy vehicles and the corresponding greenhouse gas emissions.

Congratulations for being Energy Champions!
