Congratulations to UCLA Choral Activities for winning the Grand Prize in Zipcar’s Students with Drive program! They were awarded with an extra-large check for 10,000 “smacka-roos” from Zipcar and Ford today at a press conference in Dickson Plaza.

Representatives from Zipcar and Ford were treated with performances by UCLA Choral Activities, including the National Anthem and a specially-written rap about Zipcar. Professor Donald Neuen, Choral Conducting & Choral Studies Director at UCLA’s School of Music, spoke of the 3,000 children UCLA Choral Activities were able to reach last year with the help of private donations. Now with Zipcar’s help, ”We can do this a second year and reach 6,000 children!”

UCLA Choral Activities visits middle and high school choirs, give free clinics, and buses in hundreds of kids for free performances by their choirs. We covered UCLA Choral Activities in a previous post when they won their first round of voting and went home with $5,500 in Zipcar driving credit. Thanks to that initial win, Choral Activities was eligible for the grand prize which they secured with the help of votes from friends and supporters.

The Students with Drive Program may be back next year with more driving credit to award–keep an eye out!
