The Consulate General of the Netherlands, the City of Los Angeles, and the Los Angeles County Bicycle Coalition will host ThinkBike Los Angeles September 22-23, 2011.

The Netherlands is hailed as a premier and progressive bicycle country; in Amsterdam in 2008, 38% of all vehicle trips were made by bicycle.  ThinkBike Los Angeles is a two-day workshop where Dutch bicycle transportation experts will share their experiences and help bring some velo love to LA. ThinkBike Los Angeles provides a great opportunity for dialogue between LA City staff and community members, and the Dutch transportation experts, as LA moves towards implementing its own updated Bicycle Master Plan.

The general public is invited to attend the opening and closing sessions of ThinkBike Los Angeles.

The workshop will be divided into teams where each team will be given a specific bicycle issue in LA. Each team will have a mix of Dutch consultants and LA City staff and community members. At the end of the second day of the workshop, the teams will present their ideas and solutions. A comprehensive report with the different team presentations will be drafted after the end of the workshop.

ThinkBike is an initiative that brings together Dutch transportation experts with local city planners, engineers, and community leaders. ThinkBike has hosted similar workshops in Toronto, Chicago, Washington D.C., and Miami.
