Did you know that Thursdays are the busiest traffic days of the week? Fridays are bad too, but while traffic starts earlier on Fridays, on Thursdays, you’re stuck in the maze longer. On those two days between 5 and 6 p.m., it takes about 47% longer to get home than it would with no congestion, according to Inrix, a Washington-based technology company.
The point is, it sucks. So do something about it. Try Rideshare. Even if it’s just once. It can be anything: Walking, biking, vanpooling, carpooling or taking public transit.
If the 10 or 405 parking lots aren’t enough to grind your gears, we’re offering a chance to win a gift card for any UCLA student, staff or faculty member who utilizes Rideshare. All you have to do is tell us about your Rideshare commute by posting a cool photo or story to your Twitter, Facebook or Instagram with #UCLARideshare, or emailing firstname.lastname@example.org. Every week, we will randomly select entries to be published Thursdays on our Be a Green Commuter blog. If you’re chosen, you get a $5 gift card!
All new and existing Rideshare users are eligible to enter. The contest is open from now until the end of summer. Click here to read the terms and conditions.
Remember: it’s Earth Week. We have to rein in the damage we’re doing to our environment. Do your part and go green. Even if it’s just once.
