UCLA Transportation has recently released the 2012 State of The Commute report, which provide summaries regarding commuting behaviors of students, staff and faculty. The figures show a positive trend with an increasing use of alternative transportation and lower drive-alone rate.
Here are some highlights from this year’s report:
- For the ninth consecutive year, UCLA’s campus traffic count showed a lower number of vehicle trips, with a decrease of nearly 5% since 2011, and an overall reduction of more than 20% over the past decade.
- Nearly 47% of employees and almost 74% of commuting students are characterized as alternative commuters.
- Approximately 25% of all UCLA commuters take public transit, including 15% of employees and more than one third of students.
