More than 4,000 students and employees used the BruinGO! Flash Pass for the Santa Monica Big Blue Bus and Culver CityBus, an estimated 32% increase from last year, according to recent data. Go Metro riders similarly increased by nearly 32%.
The hike in ridership is part and parcel to the many programs and promotions UCLA Transportation has launched since last year. Among them include our "Buy Metro, Get a Free Flash Pass" offer and the Transit Incentive Program, which has now been re-imagined into the new Bruin Commuter Transit Benefit.
The Bruin Commuter Transit Benefit now provides free transit passes to any new student, new employee and anyone new to public transit at UCLA.
Taking transit can be the most convenient and cost-effective way to get around the Westwood area and to commute to campus, especially as Southern California continues to grow its transit network (think Purple Line Subway!). Along with the continued expansion of UCLA Transportation's public transit programs, we hope more people decide to try transit every year.
