We are less than a week away from new bike lanes on Westwood Plaza! Starting Tuesday, May 26, Westwood Plaza will have freshly painted bike lanes between Le Conte Street and Charles E. Young Drive South.

Travel lanes will be restriped to accommodate all commuters, including those riding in cars, buses and on bikes. Part of the new stretch of bike lanes will be buffered from motor vehicular traffic, which means bicyclists can breathe easy and enjoy the safety of a three-foot hatched, a striped area between themselves and the adjacent travel lane. Buffered lanes encourage and support bicyclists of all experience levels to feel safer and more confident when riding in traffic.

With this new addition, UCLA Transportation will have all of your bases covered for a safe, enjoyable two-wheeled commute to campus. You can join a fun, supportive commuter group bike ride every week from different communities, such as Culver City, Santa Monica, Mar Vista and others. See the available routes here and pick one that's most convenient for you. Inspired by the new paint but don't have a bike? We've got you covered there too. Staff and faculty can sign up for the Employee Commuter Bike Loaner Program and receive a free two-week bicycle rental. Get a glimpse of what it feels like to bike to campus every day.
