In my absence, the dates for some exciting events got finalized. (Note: These are things that interest me, and might interest you; they don’t reflect endorsement from UCLA Transportation).

Flyer for the MoveLA Coalition's 30/10 rally on August 13th

  • 30/10 Rally, August 13th, LA City Hall, noon. Show your support for the 30/10 Plan, which will accelerate the timeline for building transportation improvements around LA County from 30 years to just 10. Imagine, the Westside Subway Extension could arrive sometime in the 2010s instead of in 2036.
  • LA Streetsblog’s Re-Launch Party, August 25 at 7PM. After coming narrowly close to ceasing publication, LA Streetsblog will be back at its full publication schedule on August 26th. To celebrate the relaunch, Streetsblog head blogger Damien Newton and many friends will be gathering at St. Andrew’s Church on National in Mar Vista. I will be there too!
  • CicLAvia, Ten-Ten-Ten. Mirrored after the Ciclovia in Bogota, 10-10-10 marks the first time ever that select streets of LA and Santa Monica will be closed to motorists for the sheer pleasure of pedestrians and cyclists. (And you don’t have to be a marathoner in order to partake.) Visit www.ciclavia.wordpress.com to learn more. I can’t wait to be out there on my bike!
