Officially via the UCLA Newsroom and an alert issued by UCLA General Services (and unofficially thanks to @erg79 on Twitter), the President is coming to Los Angeles tomorrow. He is expected to visit Sony Studios in the late afternoon and Restaurant Tavern in Brentwood in the evening.

Because the exact route the President will be traveling is unknown due to security reasons, UCLA Transportation advises commuters to check websites such as Google Maps’s traffic module or www.sigalert.com as well as to listen to radio and TV for the latest traffic information.

From Steve Rand, our traffic, events, and adjudication manager:

You can offer the websites and radio stations listed so that people can see or hear real-time conditions as they get ready for their outbound commute tomorrow.  It “appears “, based on his schedule of events, that perhaps impacts won’t begin near UCLA until sometime after 6pm, but these events are very fluid and subject to change at any time, so again it’s best to direct customers to the websites and radio stations for commute planning and impacts as they unfold.

Might I suggest checking out Westwood LIVE instead to “wait out” the probable traffic impacts instead?

According to a story in the Los Angeles Independent, Westwood LIVE is a monthly event launching tomorrow, Thursday, April 21, which will feature “an array of promotions and entertainment options” in Westwood Village.

Based on my reading of the LA Independent story, there will be a lot of events at the W Hotel on Hilgard Avenue. The events include music and an extended happy hour on the W pool deck from 5-9PM. The action then extends indoors to the nightclub inside the W, Whiskey Blue, where local DJs will be spinning music starting at 9PM.

How do you plan to circumvent the frustrations of sitting in non-moving vehicular traffic on Thursday? Yours truly is riding her bike. Sound off in the comments.
