Congratulations to the 2009-2010 Talent Development Initiative Team for winning the UCLA Transportation Pumpkin Decorating Contest. The Talent Development Initiative program is an internal professional development effort here at UCLA Transportation. The stuff they work on is, you know, focused on professional development. But it makes me feel all warm and fuzzy that they also collaborated together on this really AWESOME pumpkin-bicycle:

The pumpkins were decorated to represent the wheels of a bicycle and the team relied on wire and duct tape in order to create the bicycle frame. The bike lights and helmet are wonderful touches.

Meanwhile, my boyfriend/fellow traffic fighter Juan and I dressed up as our favorite bus line, the Metro 720 bus.

Juan and I donned grey hats which called out the terminus for the bus (mine was Downtown while his was Santa Monica); red shirts; grey sweatpants; and black shoes (to symbolize the tires.) Juan also played various sounds from the bus he'd recorded on an iPod connected to a portable speaker on a loop. Occasionally you'd hear "Stop Requested" and "Next Stop: Wilshire/Westwood".
