bikelaneNew bike lanes will be installed this month on Westwood Plaza between Le Conte Street and Charles E. Young Drive South.

Westwood Plaza is the largest entrance to the UCLA campus. The new addition will not only improve the safety of our cyclists by increasing visibility, but will also support the Los Angeles Department of Transportation (LADOT) and the Los Angeles Bike Coalition (LABC) in a citywide initiative to install bike lanes throughout Westwood Village.

The bike lanes will eventually be extended to Strathmore Place, and are part of UCLA Transportation’s continuing effort to promote more cycling to and from campus, as well as to further grow and connect the bike network. Studies have shown that having dedicated facilities for biking improves ridership.

Don't have a bike? Our Employee Commuter Bike Loaner Program offers free two-week bike rentals to faculty and staff members who want to try biking to work. And now's the perfect time to test it out as we head into an action-packed Bike Week next week and Bike-to-Work Day on May 14.
