Metro Coming to Westwood Farmer's MarketPass the Popcorn: We just got word that Metro staff will be tabling at the Westwood Farmer’s Market on Broxton tomorrow, Wednesday June 29th, starting at 2:00pm, right next to the sweet aromas of the kettle corn booth in front of Yamato’s restaurant.  You can bet both the ‘countdown’ to the weekend closure of 405 Freeway and  Westside Subway Extension project will be tops on Metro’s menu of information and/or discussion.

405 weekend closure update: Metro’s tabling event comes right after we learned they will provide free rides as well as additional bus service on the Metro Orange Line during the closure weekend, to further encourage transit trips between the San Fernando Valley and downtown Los Angeles. This is in addition to previously announced free rides on the Metro Red/Purple Line subway. And late last week, Metro’s CEO was given the authority to offer additional free fares on the Metro Bus and Rail system, particularly for Westside and other needed service areas – more information as it presents itself.

If you’d like to see all of Metro’s additional services and/or route alterations during the 405 closure, visit this page on the Metro website.
