Many people came up with creative ways to transport their pets along CicLAvia's 7.5 mile route.

I'll gush some more about CicLAvia in a separate entry, but  CicLAvia and the announcement made by President Obama about overhauling the way that the federal government funds infrastructure improvements (including for transportation) are big in the news.

  • CicLAvia: anywhere between 50,000 and 100,000 people participated in the inaugural closure of 7.5 miles of street between East Hollywood and Boyle Heights. (LA Streetsblog, LA Times, CBS TV, Daily Bruin).
  • In President Obama's speech, he said,
  • This plan will be fully paid for. It will not add to our deficit over time. And we are going to work with Congress to see to that. It will establish an infrastructure bank to leverage federal dollars and focus on the smartest investments. (Time, LA Daily News).

On a lighter note, the UCLA Today updated the weekly South Campus food truck menu for those of us who like to walk to our gourmet eats.
