- How much do people save by using mass transit? The City Fix attempts to calculate the cost savings for two-person households who forgo a second car. LA comes in second. Via a back of the envelope calculation, assuming that I were to drive a newer car, I too would probably save $8-$10K. (Then again, I don't have kind of money in the first place, what with student loans taking up the part of my paycheck that could go to a car).
- Then again, I'm part of a generation (Gen Y/millennial) that, according to researchers at CNW Research, that supposedly isn't interested in owning a car (via Alt Transport and MSNBC).
