The public is invited to attend an open house today at the Westwood Recreation Center  for the 405 widening project hosted by Metro. (I-405-Jan-20-2010-Invite)

This bridge, along with Sunset and Skirball, will be completely replaced as part of the project. "Private Bridge across Mulholland" by Salim Virji http://www.flickr.com/photos/salim/ / CC BY-SA 2.0

According to a Metro flyer, the design-build contractor for the 405 widening project will be showing final designs for soundwalls, retaining walls, bridges, and landscaping which incorporated feedback from area neighbors and stakeholders collected late last fall.

As this is an open house, there will be no formal presentation. However, the public is welcome to come walk through the event, which will be hosted at the Westwood Recreational Center (1350 S. Sepulveda Blvd), at any time between 3PM and 7PM today.

I personally hope to stop by on my way home from work (I'll have to make the Culver City Bus 6 Local - not Rapid - work for me).

Please note: There is no construction tonight on the 405 due to inclement weather. The best way to keep up with closures is to check out Metro's dedicated Twitter feed @I_405.
