Los Angeles Department of Transportation (LADOT) announced the launch of LA Mobile, a mobile application that allows LADOT DASH and Commuter Express transit riders to pay their fares with a smartphone. The new mobile app is the first of its kind for a transit agency in California.
LA Mobile allows riders to set-up an account with a credit card and pay for fares on a per-ride or monthly basis, with a minimum purchase of 20 trips.
Occasional DASH and Commuter Express UCLA riders can now purchase their 20 rides on their phones at their convenience instead of making the trek to the Central Ticket Office to purchase a 20-trip booklet.
LA Mobile will help pave the way for additional transit agencies to integrate a pay-by-phone application into their systems.
