You may have noticed these new colorful signs around Bruin Walk and Bruin Plaza. Safety is always a priority, and Joe Bruin is here to remind cyclists, skateboarders, Rollerbladers and those on scooters to give pedestrians priority!
Dismount Zones are located in Bruin Plaza, along Bruin Walk, and on the sidewalk on the south side of Parking Structure 8 that connects Westwood Plaza to Charles E. Young Drive West. These are high-congestion areas where safety is especially important. UCLA is home to thousands of students, faculty and staff who all contribute to the high energy on campus. Whether you are racing to class or your next meeting, remember to be considerate to those around you.
These Dismount Zones were created in 2009 to help prevent collisions between pedestrians, bicyclists, skateboarders, roller skaters, and scooter riders. Violators may be fined, so make sure to “walk your wheels” while in the dismount zones!
