I’d love to say I’m a green commuter, but sadly I’m only “green” when I am home. i commute 30 miles each way to Valencia, and I would love to ride my bicycle here but this is highly impractical and probably dangerous. But I have pledged not to drive on my days off, so on Tuesday, thursdays, Saturdays and Sundays, I’m getting around town on my bicycle.  It’s a wonderful way to unwind and destress, and a much greener alternative to jumping in the car for every little shopping trip or errand.  I’ve found I can get almost everywhere I need to go in my home town on a bicycle. We have miles of great bike trails, and everything is fairly close. I ride my bike to the gym, the bank, post office, Trader Joe’s, the mall, and lots of places in between.  MY car is pretty low gas consumption, 30 mpg, but the best mode of transportation is by far the bicycle. I envy people who live close enough to work to ride their bikes here, but I’m doing what I can to reduce my carbon footprint.
