Metro is offering transit users free rides on the Expo Line this Friday and Saturday when the highly-anticipated 6.6-mile extension will finally make its way to the Westside.

The free rides on Friday will run from noon until the close of service. On Saturday, May 21, the free rides will begin at 4:42 a.m. in Downtown Santa Monica and at 4:45 a.m. at the 7th/Metro Center Station. Free Saturday rides will continue until the end of service around 2 a.m.

Metro will also be holding celebrations from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday at the following stations:

  • Downtown Santa Monica
  • 17th St/SMC
  • 26th St/Bergamot
  • Expo/Bundy
  • Palms
  • Culver City

Station celebrations will include live music, children’s activities, food trucks, bike valets and pit-stops, information booths, and more.

Need a way to get there without hopping in your car? Metro recently compiled a comprehensive list of bus connections and bike parking for all seven new Expo Line stations.
