We are pleased to announce that we have installed our first EV (electric vehicle) charging stations right on campus!
Two stations (both a part of the ChargePoint network) are now available in Parking Structure 9 on level 3. These stations are available to “top-off” your vehicle’s charge for $2/hour for a maximum of 4 hours and you can reserve one online or using apps on your iPhone, Android or BlackBerry.
Unfamiliar with EVs? They’re not as uncommon as you might think. According to a study done by UCLA’s own Luskin Center for Innovation, Los Angeles may lead the way in the country’s EV adoption. The report predicts that nine percent of all new vehicles produced in 2015 will be electric.
And just a few days ago, Coda opened up its first auto showroom to sell their EVs in the Westfield Century City Shopping Center, not too far from UCLA. EVs are energy efficient, environmentally friendly and help reduce energy dependence. By offering charging stations on campus, we hope to broaden the support network of these vehicles.
