Drum roll please, the Eastside Gold Line extension is slated to open November 15. (Source: The Source.) There will be many cultural festivities at the four stations between Union Station and East LA, and free rides from one end of the Gold Line in East LA to the other in Pasadena between 9AM to 5PM on the 11th.
How to get to Union Station from UCLA, where you can catch the Gold Line, from the Westside? Here are a couple of ideas:
- Big Blue Bus 10 (Freeway Express) between Santa Monica/West LA to Downtown LA/Union Station
- Metro 720 along Wilshire Boulevard to the Red/Purple Line
- Metro 2 (Sunset) to Sunset/Highland, walk two blocks north on Highland to catch the Metro Red Line to Union Station.
- Metro 704 or 4 (Santa Monica) to Wilshire Boulevard or to the Metro Red Line at Vermont/Santa Monica.
It is so exciting to see this project finally open to the public. I look forward to figuring out how Bruins can take advantage of the Gold Line extension as an option for day-to-day commuting and occasional one-time trips.
