The “most walkable CicLAvia ever” will be held this Sunday along Wilshire Boulevard!
From 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., Wilshire Boulevard will be blocked off from cars between Downtown LA and Miracle Mile. Five hubs will offer hydration stations, free minor bike repairs and fun activities for kids.
CicLAvia has collaborated with the Getty and Pacific Standard Time Presents: Modern Architecture in LA to bring a new and unique experience to all participants. According to CicLAvia’s website:
This collaboration … brings together several local arts institutions for a wide-ranging look at the postwar built environment of the city as a whole, from its famous residential architecture to its vast freeway network, revealing the city’s development and ongoing impact in new ways.
Make the most of your time at CicLAvia by listening to free podcasts while you walk or ride Wilshire and learn more about the history of LA. You can also grab a free copy of The Modernist’s Guide to Iconic Wilshire Boulevard at any hub. The guide was developed by Catherine Gudis, Associate Professor of History at the University of California at Riverside, and can tell you about the role Wilshire has played in LA’s cultural and demographic makeup.
