On July 11, 2011, UCLA Transportation launched the new Bruin Commuter Club (BCC), encouraging all UCLA commuters using alternative transportation to join by registering online. In less than two weeks the BCC has over 950 members, and this is before the expected fall rush of students! The BCC provides all UCLA alternative transportation commuters one-stop access to products, services, information, benefits and incentives. It encompasses under one umbrella all UCLA staff, faculty and students who travel to campus by UCLA Vanpool, UCLA staff/faculty carpool, UCLA student 3-person carpool, public transit, bicycling, and walking. BCC also replaces the former RideCard and introduces Bruin Commuter Park program which automates the system for providing discounted parking for green commuters who may occasionally need to drive alone to campus.
BCC is rapidly developing and will continue doing so in phases currently scheduled through 2013. Here are some of those benefits and phases:
- Bruin Commuter Park
- Emergency Ride Home (ERH) – Coming August 1, 2011 for select participants
- Metro Rewards (Coming Jan. 2012)
- Zipcar (2012)
- Zimride (2012)
