Building on the success of last year’s Bike Summit, the Urban and Environmental Policy Institute, at Occidental College is bringing together advocates, planners, and citizens alike again this year for the 2010 LA Street Summit: Biking, Walking and Beyond. Last year’s Bike Summit tapped into the ever-growing LA Bike Culture, and this year the Street Summit hopes to capture the larger overall livability movement. The 2010 LA Street Summit shifts into a broader focus, covering topics like the built environment, pedestrian amenities, public transit, environmental justice, bicycles, etc.
Last year featured key-note speakers as well as individual workshops, covering a variety of different bicycle related topics. This year looks to follow the same. The 2010 Street Summit will be on Saturday, March 20th, at the Los Angeles Trade Tech College. The Pre-Summit kicks off on Thursday, March 18, with a discussion with featured speaker Janette Sadik-Khan, at Occidental College in Eagle Rock. Boththe Summit and the talk with Janette Sadik-Khan are free and open to the public.
The LA Street Summit is also asking you, what topics you want to hear covered. For more info check out their site here. Workshop topics must be submitted by February 13.
I attended and sat on a panel at last year’s Bike Summit. There were, to say the least, a lot of very insightful, passionate, and overall cool people. I’m looking forward to seeing this year’s lineup of topics.
